WILTON — The Wilton Fish & Game Association members are busy preparing for several fall events. The annual fall raffle is now taking place with tickets being sold by members as well as the members being present at the Farmington Fair in the Starbird Building the week of Sept. 15.

The first place winner will have the opportunity to select from three different items: an ATI over/under shotgun, a bow package or a Kindle. Second-place ticket will win a ton of wood pellets and third-place winner will receive a fishing pole. Winning tickets will be drawn on Saturday night, the final day of fair, at the WF&G table as well as several door prizes.

Funds raised from the raffle will be used to upgrade the club’s facilities.

Field day

The Annual Fish & Game Field Day will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28. It is open to the public.

The day will include two new trap shooting events. Trap will be shot under the supervision of Charlie Tappan. Bring ammo, hearing protection and shotgun. Trap will be shot in squads of up to five shooters. Cost is $4 per shooter. For information call Charlie at 645-4867.

There will be a three-gun challenge ($10 for 22 rounds) and the shooting gallery ($5 for 10 rounds, $8 for 20 rounds) will be open for all to participate. Members are looking forward to sharing their knowledge of firearm safety and instruction in the proper way to shoot.

The Youth Competition League will serve lunch between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Lunch will consist of baked beans, hot dogs, coleslaw, apple pie and ice cream. Cost is $8 per adult and $5 for ages 12 and under. Funds earned by the league will be put towards equipment and improvements to the range.

Pistol course

Everett Gile will be instructing an NRA approved Two Day Basic Pistol Course. All are invited and are asked to register with Everett before the event by calling 779-0721. The course will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, and from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, Oct. 13, at the Wilton Fish & Game Club House on Route 2. Gile is an NRA-certified pistol instructor.

Membership registration forms will be available at each event. The membership begins in October. Meetings are held on the third Sunday of each month at 6:30 p.m. except for September. Anyone interested in joining may contact Phil at 897-3027 or stop by at any of the events.
