FAYETTE — Kennebec County sheriff’s deputies are investigating burglaries at a house and shed on the Sandy River Road where tools, copper piping and ice fishing equipment were among items stolen.
Reports of the two burglaries on different properties were reported on Sept. 12, Capt. Dan Davies said Wednesday.
A deputy responded to an open door complaint on a house that was unoccupied, he said. A door had been kicked in. Most of the cabinets and drawers had been rifled through, Davies said.
A pile of scrap metal and numerous pieces of copper piping were stolen, he said.
Evidence was recovered and is being analyzed at the crime laboratory in Augusta.
At another property, entry was gained to a shed by damaging a door. The burglary is believed to have occurred between 4:30 p.m. Sept. 11 and 10:30 p.m. Sept. 12, he said.
Thirty-four pieces of property were reported stolen with an estimated value of about $1,290, he said. Among the items taken were ice-fishing equipment, outdoor and carpentry tools and equestrian related items.
