BUCKFIELD — The Zadoc Long Free Library, serving Buckfield, Sumner and Hartford residents, is offering several opportunities to both help the library and benefit its patrons.

First is its annual firewood raffle. Two individual cord prizes of split and seasoned wood, delivered, are available. The value for each cord is $250. The second raffle is a $198 value, from area retailers, including Tiltons, Hannaford, Walmart, Shaws, Axis Natural Foods and the Buckfield Mall. Both raffles are priced at $1 per raffle ticket, or six tickets for $5. Tickets for both raffles are available at the library. Firewood raffle tickets are also available at Tilton’s Market, Lowell Lumber’s Buckfield store, Frechette’s and the Fireside Stove Shop on Center Street in Auburn.

The library is open 28 hours a week and houses about 8,000 items including books, audio and video items. It also belongs to a consortium through Maine InfoNet Download Library, which offers more than 2,000 downloadable books. The library also offers Interlibrary Loan services free of charge and programs for both children and adults.

Four desktop computers are available, as well as wireless.

Current programs include children’s summer and winter story time, on Saturday mornings July through September and winter January through March.  Dates and times will be announced. The library is also looking at adding a Tuesday morning story time this fall or winter, depending upon interest.
