AUBURN — Auditions for Community Little Theatre’s second production of its 74th season, the holiday classic, “A Christmas Carol, The Musical,” will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday and Monday, Oct. 6 and 7, at Great Falls Performing Arts Center, 30 Academy Street. Production dates are December 6-15.
“A Christmas Carol, The Musical” has music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, and book by Mike Ockrent and Lynn Ahrens. It is based on the story by Charles Dickens. The show’s director, Mitchell Clyde Thomas, has announced that the open auditions will include a very short solo (preferably from the show) for anyone who plans to audition for a singing role. Anyone not planning to sing something from the show should bring a copy of their selected music for the accompanist.
There will also be cold readings from the script and dance auditions for most who attend. The script/excerpts will be available 30 minutes prior to the start of auditions. There are a number of roles for experienced dancers, who may or may not need to be singers. Those who audition are asked to bring a schedule of all conflicts they may have throughout the rehearsal and production process. A copy of the rehearsal schedule will be available at auditions.
The lead role of “Scrooge” was cast following an earlier audition and will be played by Shawn Robitaille of Lewiston. Robitaille previously played Jekyll/Hyde and other lead roles at CLT.
The cast will be multi-generational, and people of all ages, races, and physical challenges are encouraged to audition.
