AUBURN — The Woman’s Literary Union of Androscoggin County will host the ELHS Chorale Concert at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, in a fundraiser for the Chorale’s trip to the National Choral festival in Tennessee. This program will take place at the historic Horatio and Ella Foss house, 19 Elm St., and is open to the public. Members are encouraged to bring guests.
Underground railroad quilts
The WLU will host a program at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, led by Connie Benwitz on the history of how quilts in the underground railroad assisted escaping slaves.
This program is open to the public. Members are encouraged to bring guests.
Admission is free but donations are accepted. This month a charitable collection of diapers and baby wipes are being gathered for Head Start.
Organized in 1892, the Woman’s Literary Union is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to further the intellectual, cultural and educational advancement of its members and the community, and preserve the nationally registered Horatio Foss Mansion.
