1. Cheverus (4-0)
Junior tailback Joe Fitzpatrick scored one TD in Week 1. Since then he’s outscored five of the other seven teams in Eastern A with 12 touchdowns.
2. Brunswick (4-0)
After seeing Ben Lucas and Skowhegan’s spread offense, the Dragons will be ready for the Cougar Gun.
3. Bonny Eagle (4-0)
The Scots earned their perfect first half, beating teams 3-6 in the Western A Crabtrees. Thornton is still two weeks away.
4. Thornton (3-1)
Battered and bruised Golden Trojans were able to grind out a comeback win over Sanford.
5. Portland (3-1)
The Bulldogs proved themselves by surviving the long trip to Bangor. They can expect another physical battle with Oxford Hills on homecoming.
6. Kennebunk (4-0)
Crossover games have many detractors, but the Rams will be heading to Brunswick in Week 8 for what could be a state championship preview, if not a battle of unbeatens.
7. Cony (3-1)
The Rams could use junior WR Tayler Carrier, who hurt his ankle in last week’s win over Lawrence, for this week’s anticipated shootout against Skowhegan.
8. Marshwood (3-1)
The Hawks will have to bounce back quickly from their loss to Kennebunk. They’re headed to Oakland to face an up-and-coming Messalonskee team.
9. South Portland (3-1)
The Red Riots aren’t just riding on the coattails of their Week 1 win over Thornton. They could be a major factor in a physical Western A.
10. Leavitt (4-0)
Hornets are just looking to get better each week, but they won’t really know how much they’re progressing for at least a couple of more weeks.
