ORONO (AP) — The University of Maine’s sports stadium is getting a new high-definition scoreboard next year.
The university announced Thursday that UMaine benefactors Phillip and Susan Morse have donated $800,000 to fund the scoreboard as well as support the baseball program.
The new scoreboard for UMaine’s football and track and field programs will be 30 feet wide and 20 feet tall and include high definition video display and instant replay. The university says it will also allow for “enhanced fan interaction,” showing live video shots of fans and fan tweets and texts.
The scoreboard will be installed in time for the first football game next fall.
