At last, the ladies of Lewiston and Auburn all this section of Maine are to have what New York has been so interested and concerned about — a “Fashion Show,” which will be held at E. S. Paul & Co., Lewiston. This is in reality a display of gowns, coats, furs and other beautiful garments upon living models. You see the gown exactly as worn. The affair will be further enlivened by music. It will be given Wednesday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Tonight’s the night that most of the area TV sets will be tuned to the same channel — between the hours of 8:30 and 9:30, at least. This is the night that the nation gets a look at the troubles those Route 66ers can get into in Maine, particularly in the Poland Spring and Monmouth areas. The showing is “Same Picture, Different Frame,” and TV audiences will get a chance to see a number of area residents on the tube, some of them with speaking parts. The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department got into the act as several members of that department were called upon to help out in a thrilling scene which marks the end of a potential killer. The scene is at Poland Spring. The “Route 66” crew spent over a month filming in Maine, basing their operations at Poland Spring. Another episode about Maine is due next week. This one concerns the pulp and paper industry. The third show, not yet scheduled, revolves around the Maine lobster industry.

Their names were drawn on the air at WXGL yesterday afternoon by Ed Croteau, general manager for the local Sam’s restaurants, as part of the famed Pizza Power promotion that he says has propelled the Red Sox to two Eastern Division titles in three years.
