VASSALBORO — Taylor Morang led Winthrop with a total of +3 over par, as the Ramblers topped Wiscasset 5-2 to secure the MVC golf championship played at Natanis Arrowhead course Monday.
Anthony Owens and Zach Steele shot well on the day, securing a match win each for the Ramblers. Winthrop outshot Wiscasset 167-172 on the day, yet edged them out in match play 5-2.
Darin Wood was the medalist on the day, shooting +1 over par, and winning his match for the Wolverines. Matt Craig registered the only other win in match play for Wiscasset, shooting a 54 on the day.
MVC Golf
Winthrop 5.5, St. Dom’s 1.5
VASSALBORO — Taylor Morang shot an even 36 to provide Winthrop with a 5.5-1.5 victory over St. Dom’s in the MVC semifinal golf match played at Natanis Arrowhead course.
Anthony Owens and Zach Steele shot a 37 and 41 respectively to secure wins on the day for the Ramblers. Justin Kearny shot a 43 for St. Dom’s, securing their only match victory, while Mitch Lorenz tied Adam Hachey.
Girls’ soccer
Carrabec 5, Lisbon 2
LISBON — Brooklynne Lewis turned in a hat trick and Mickayla Willette and Emily Withham each added a goal as Carrabec shelved Lisbon with a 5-2 victory in a girls’ soccer game Monday.
The Cobras (6-4-1) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half before adding another three goals in the second. Lisbon’s (5-5) Deliah Schrieber scored both goals, with one coming on a penalty kick. Paige Gallagher picked up a save on of the goals.
Field fockey
Mountain Valley 4, Boothbay 1
RUMFORD — With the score 1-0 at the half, Lexi Duguay ignited the Mountain. Valley’s offense, scoring 2 goals, as the Falcons cruised past Boothbay 4-1 in MVC field hockey action Monday.
Marissa Crosby and Liza White added a goal each for the Falcons (3-9), while Alyson Carlton tallied two assists. Kassie Thibodeau took the win in net, making four saves on seven shots.
Shaw Pinkham scored the lone goal for the Seahawks (0-12), while Erica Eames stopped five shots in net.
