LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners at the Lewiston Armory on Oct. 7 were as follows: first, Luke Merry and Mary Trafton; second, Jeanine Kivus and David Lock; third, Les Buzzell and Paul Sherman; fourth, Jan and Vern Arey; first in B, Kathy Burden and Sue Kaluzynski; second, Eileen Potvin and Della Starbird; first in C, Cynthia Clifford and Richard Balian.
Winners on Oct. 8 were: first, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; second, Les Buzzell and Fred Letourneau; third/first in B, Kathy Burden and Mary Trafton; fourth, Bill Clifford and David Lock; fifth/second in B/first in C, Ellie and George Wigton; second in C, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe.

There will be no game on Monday, Oct. 14, Columbus Day. A special American Contract Bridge League Club Appreciation game will be played on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
West Paris food pantry
WEST PARIS — The Neighborhood Niche Food Pantry will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at West Paris Baptist Church, 15 Church St.
The pantry is open the first and third Tuesday of each month. West Paris residents are invited to come once a month.
Spurrs Corner food pantry hours
OTISFIELD — The food pantry at Spurrs Corner Church, Route 121, will be open Tuesday, Oct. 15, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Hartford Church turkey supper
BUCKFIELD — Hartford Community Church will hold a public turkey supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Masonic Lodge in Buckfield.
The traditional Thanksgiving supper will include turkey and stuffing, potato and gravy, squash, turnip, peas, corn, dinner rolls, homemade pie and beverages.
Cost is $6 for adults, $3.50 for children 12 and under.
Mechanic Falls Library book sale
MECHANIC FALLS — Mechanic Falls Library will hold a book sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at 108 Lewiston St.
Paperbacks will be 50 cents, $1 for hardcovers and $5 to fill a bag.
Mahoosuc Trust annual meeting
BETHEL — The 24th Annual Meeting of the Mahoosuc Land Trust will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, in Ordway Hall at Gould Academy.
Following the election of directors and officers, Professor Andrew Barton will speak on his recent work, “The Changing Nature of the Maine Woods.” Membership renewals will be available at the meeting.

St. John VFW breakfast Oct. 20
HARRISON — The Ronald St. John VFW Post, 176 Waterford Road, will hold their popular breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 20.
The menu includes scrambled eggs, French toast, bacon, sausage, home fries, biscuits and gravy, sweet breads, fruit cups, orange juice and beverage. Adults $6, children under 10, $3.
Applications open for toy fund
BRIDGTON — The Bridgton Community Center once again will be accepting applications for the Bruce Roberts Toy Fund.
The fund gives toy packages to needy children, age infant to 18, of all ethnic backgrounds. The program has been in existence since 1949. Children from York, Cumberland, Sagadahoc, Lincoln and Knox counties are served. The Bridgton Community Center helps by distributing applications and arranging pickup at the Bruce Roberts warehouse in Freeport for clients to pick up at the Community Center on Depot Street, Bridgton.
Application deadline is Nov. 1. If you or someone you know would benefit from this program, request an application at the Bridgton Community Center, 15 Depot St., and return it by Nov. 1.
