KINGFIELD (AP) — Maine State Police say two runaway teens from Canada crashed into two Border Patrol cruisers before being apprehended in a spree that involved three stolen vehicles.

Troopers said a 16-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl from communities outside Ottawa were arrested late Monday after abandoning a stolen truck and fleeing down a steep embankment.

Spokesman Steve McCausland said the girl was hospitalized Tuesday in Portland for assessment of possible internal injuries suffered in her tumble down the embankment.

Police said the teens led Canadian police on a chase before crossing the Maine border in a second stolen car, prompting a 100 mph chase, damage to two cruisers and shots fired by agents. Troopers said spike mats deflated the tires of their third stolen vehicle in Kingfield.
