PARIS — The Oxford County Educators Association-Retired will gather for their October meeting on Friday, Oct. 18, at the First Congregational Church.
Socializing and sign-ins will begin at 10:30 a.m. After the business meeting at 11, members of the church will serve a meal. At approximately 1 p.m., representatives from Stephens Memorial Hospital will present information concerning therapy programs at the hospital.
The fundraiser for the month is OCEA-R’s annual pie sale. The pies are sold for $9. The choices are apple pie with or without walnuts. Pies can be purchased either cooked or frozen for later use. To purchase a pie, contact 743-7677. The proceeds will be used to help create scholarships for Oxford County students who will be furthering their education after graduation from high school in 2014.
The November fundraiser for the same purpose will be a calendar raffle.
Anyone who is a former teacher, bus driver, custodian, librarian or who worked in a school system before retirement is urged to join the OCEA-R, which is an organization that represents the interests of retired educators and provides programs both informational and entertaining.
