MONMOUTH — With a pair of scoreless halves, Ben Bolstridge connected with Mason Clement for the tiebreaker with 50 seconds remaining in overtime, lifting Monmouth past Dirigo 1-0 in an MVC boys’ soccer matchup.
Monmouth had solid midfield play that kept the Mustangs in the game, from M. Clement, Chandler Harris and Kyle Fletcher. Kasey Smith had an active day in net for the Mustangs (8-5), stopping all 10 shots he faced for the shutout. Keeper Lucas Johnston made 13 saves for the Cougars (4-9).
Kennebunk 3, Poland 1
POLAND — With a quiet 0-0 first half, Kennebunk’s offense ignited, using three different scorers to secure a 3-1 victory over Poland in a boys’ varsity soccer matchup.
Ryan Keefe, Pat Gassman and Spencer Thibodeau all registered a goal for the Rams (6-5-3), while keeper Tyler Dickinson made four saves. Nigel Williams scored the lone goal for the Knights (3-9-2). Goaltender Zack Lowe turned back nine shots in the effort from Poland.
Girls’ soccer
Monmouth 1, Mountain. Valley 0
MONMOUTH — With 7:44 left to play in the first half, Kylie Kemp netted a goal from a rebound off the goalie, as Monmouth edged past Mountain Valley 1-0 in girls’ MVC soccer action.
Mikayla Cameron earned the win in net for the Mustangs (8-5-1), stopping three shots, while her counterpart Grace Briggs had 10 saves for the Falcons (3-11).
Carrabec 3, Telstar 0
BETHEL — BrookLynne Lewis fired in a pair of first-half goals to put Carrabec ahead for good, as the Cobras ran past Telstar 3-0 in girls’ MVC soccer Monday.
Makayla Leeman tallied a goal as well, while Mercedes Welch made seven saves in net for the Cobras (8-4-2). Cailin Haines started the game for Telstar in net, stopping three shots. She was later relieved by Tehya Johnson who finished the game out making six saves for the Rebels (0-12-2).
Mt. Abram 0, Madison 0
SALEM — With neither team being able to finish offense, Mt. Abram and Madison played through two scoreless overtime periods, resulting in a 0-0 tie in girls’ MVC soccer action.
Madison controlled the pace, outshooting Mt. Abram 12-4. Netminder Savanna Kandiko recorded four saves for the Roadrunners (5-8-1). Keeper Allie Lopez made 12 saves in net for the Bulldogs (11-1-2).
Hall-Dale 4, Spruce Mountain. 3 2OT
JAY — In a back and forth girls’ soccer game between two powerhouses in the MVC, Maura Stottler had the last word. Stottler found the back of the net on a breakaway that snuck past the Spruce Mountain keeper with 1:43 left in the second over time to give Hall-Dale the lead as they edged past Spruce Mountain 4-3 in walk-off fashion.
Along with Stottler, who had two goals on the day, Signe Lynch and Thea Sweet tallied goals for the Bulldogs (11-1-2).
Megan Duval, Alexa Perkins and Kailee Newcomb all registered a goal for the Phoenix (9-5). Olivia Maynard had an active day in net, making 20 key saves to keep Spruce in it.
St. Dom’s 6, Dirigo 0
DIXFIELD — Faith Grady rang up a hat trick and Emily Caron scored a pair of goals as St. Dom’s vanquished Dirigo 6-0 in a girls’ soccer game Monday.
Grady scored her first two goals in the first half, giving the Saints (12-1-1) a 2-0 lead. Emma Byrne scored a goal, with Kym Johnson picking up an assist on the play.
Saints goalie Kelly Pomerleau made 10 saves, while Dirigo (4-10) netminder Mariah LaFleur stopped nine shots, including two penalty kicks.
