DIXFIELD — Four teams of residents will have the chance to test their knowledge of the town at So You Think You Know Dixfield on Saturday.

The trivia contest is set from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Dixfield Congregational Church.

Resident Darlene Berry said she got the idea for the competition from a friend who hosts a similar event in Bath.

“In Bath, they hold a trivia competition, but on a much larger scale,” she said. “This is our first year trying to do something like this, so right now, we’re just going to see how it goes. I just thought it would be a good fundraiser for the church, and something fun for the town to do.”

Tickets are $10 and will include a beverage and dessert, Berry said, adding that seating may be limited.

Berry said the church asked resident Jon Holmes to act as master of ceremonies, and invited residents Charlotte Collins and Albert Spaulding to serve as judges.

“We came up with about 70 questions, and Charlotte and Albert picked the questions to include in the rounds,” Berry said. “Each of the teams will be competing to see who can answer the most questions about Dixfield’s history. Each round will get progressively harder as the competition goes on.”

Residents Norine Clarke, Craig Nash, Judy Horne and Donna Towle were selected as team captains, and they choose three members to compete with them.

Each team will receive a special T-shirt, and the winning team will receive a trophy.

“I hope it goes over well,” Berry said. “I was hoping that this could be a good way to get the community involved and raise funds for our church.”
