AUGUSTA — State officials say heating fuel prices in Maine are “relatively stable” as the winter heating season approaches.
The latest weekly price survey by the governor’s energy office finds an average statewide price of $3.53 cents per gallon for Number 2 heating oil and $3.94 per gallon for kerosene. Both prices have dropped a penny in the last week.
Officials say the average price for propane increased by 1 cent to $2.68 per gallon.
Patrick Woodcock, director of the energy office, said nighttime temperatures have begun to dip below freezing in many portions of the state. He says now is the time for residents to take steps to improve energy efficiency or add a supplemental heating system to reduce overall monthly bills.
