WESTBROOK — Two men and a woman from southern Maine were arrested Thursday morning on drug and other charges as the result of an investigation by the Westbrook Police Department and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
The arrests took place about 9:30 a.m. at the Super 8 motel, Westbrook police Capt. Tom Roth said in a news release issued Friday afternoon.
Brittany Vezina, 23, of Naples was charged with aggravated drug trafficking, a Class A felony punishable up up to 30 years in prison. She also was charged with violation of bail conditions.
Jerome Richards, 28, of Warren and William Wheelock, 23, of Windham both were charged with Class C drug possession, which is punishable by up to five years in prison. Wheelock also was charged with failure to provide correct name, Roth said.
Police seized 54 grams of a substance believed to be MDMC, or methylone, half a gram of what police believe is heroin and 41 grams of marijuana, Roth said. He said methylone is common in other parts of the country but is relatively new in Maine.
Police also confiscated Suboxone, oxycodone, Adderall, clonazepam, lorazepam and buprenorphine pills as well as a .45 caliber handgun, ammunition, scales, packaging material and $3,909 cash, he said.
Further charges are anticipated as this case is investigated, Roth said.
