AUGUSTA — Victims of burglaries in four counties will be able to claim their stolen property from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office, 125 State St.

The agency is working in conjunction with Maine State Police and the Winthrop Police Department to get items to the rightful owners, Kennebec County Chief Deputy Ryan Reardon said.

Some of the victims in Androscoggin, Franklin, Kennebec and Somerset counties who reported burglaries throughout September and October were meeting with law enforcement agencies to claim the items Wednesday, he said.

It appears there are 56 confirmed burglaries that occurred in about 25 towns including Wayne, Livermore, Livermore Falls, Leeds, Mount Vernon, Belgrade, Vienna, Readfield, Chesterville and Smithfield, he said.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Justin Ross, 36, of Wayne, formerly of East Wilton, in October on a felony charge of burglary and a probation hold was placed on him at the time. He also faces a misdemeanor theft charge.

Police found tens of thousands of dollars worth of stolen items at a Wayne residence and a Livermore Falls business after a neighbor noticed a strange car in a driveway at a Mountain Road residence in Vienna.

The neighbor had written down the license plate information. An investigation revealed that the residence had been burglarized. Deputies checked out the license plate, which led them a house on Main Street in Wayne where Ross lived.

Officers will be on hand to assist with the identification and release of the stolen property during the viewing, Reardon said.

Burglary victims who plan to attend the viewing are asked to obtain a copy of the items they reported missing and bring that list or report with them.

Questions can be referred to Detective Nathan McNally at 623-3614, ext. 1202.
