SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The following area residents graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.

The airmen completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Air Force Airman Caleb Archer is the son of Joslin Archer of South Everett Avenue, Oxford. He is a 2012 graduate of Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, South Paris.

Air Force Airman Evan R. Moran is the son of Steven Moran of Gray, nephew of Phil Moran of Virginia Beach. He is a 2012 graduate of Gray New-Gloucester High School.

Air Force Airman Tucker J. Andrews is the son of Cherie Merrill of Winthrop. He is a 2009 graduate of Mount View High School, Thorndike.

Air Force Airman Samuel P. Hobson is the son of Julie Hobson of Monmouth. He is a 2012 graduate of Vineyard Christian School, Lewiston.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Nicholas J. Brown is the son of Tami Brown of Topsham. He is a 2009 graduate of Morse High School, Bath.

Air Force Airman Eric M. Dahl is the son of Donald Dahl of Westwood, Mass. He is a 2012 graduate of Hebron Academy, Hebron.

COLUMBUS, Ga. — Army National Guard Pfc. Torrey G. Burgess and Army Pvt. Colby A. Dufresne have graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldiers received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.

Burgess is the son of Torrey Burgess Sr. of Penley Street, Mexico. He is a 2008 graduate of Mountain Valley High School, Rumford.

Dufresne is the son of Lynn Thomas of Buckfield and Richard Dufresne of Largo, Fla. He is a 2012 graduate of Oxford Hills High School, South Paris.
