AUGUSTA (AP) — After several consecutive weeks of falling prices, the average retail cost of a gallon of gas in Maine is on the way up.
Price-monitoring website MaineGasPrices.com reported Monday that prices crept up nearly a penny in the past week to an average of $3.38 per gallon.
Even though Maine prices are rising slower than they are nationally, in-state prices remain 17 cents above the national per-gallon average of $3.21.
Maine prices are still 8 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and 22 cents per gallon lower than at this time last year.
The price is based on a survey of more than 1,200 Maine gas stations.
