FARMINGTON — The Farmington Recreation Department will offer students in grades four, five and six noncompetitive gymnasium activities through its Indoor Games Sampler.
Students can try two or three each evening, including snowball dodge ball, tai chi, kickball, the batting tunnel, Wiffle ball, badminton, shuffleboard, bean bag toss, ladder ball and tumbling.
The activities provide fun and exercise for children and don’t require team affiliation or long-term commitment.
The activities will be held from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. on Wednesdays Dec. 4, 11 and 18, in Bjorn Gymnasium at the Farmington Community Center. All necessary equipment will be provided.
Directing the program will be staff member Matt Clark, a senior at UMF majoring in community health with a background in gymnastics, martial arts and racket sports. He is a supervisor in the department’s after-school program.
Registration begins Monday, Dec. 3, and the fee is $15. Class size is limited to 10, so early registration is encouraged. Depending on the interest level, the program may be repeated later this winter.
