PERU — Board of Selectmen Chairman Jim Pulsifer said officials will review town records and talk with former Recreation Committee members to be sure recreation money was used properly.
The topic was raised at Monday night’s board meeting due to ongoing concerns by selectmen and Peruvians for Honest Government.
In the past, the committee raised funds and received money from the town. While there seems to be agreement over the town’s duty to oversee the expenditure of town funds, there has been a question about who had authority to spend money raised by the committee.
Also Monday, selectmen discussed the upcoming Board of Appeals hearing on a garage built by Don and Bill Paradis at 7 Short St.
According to Code Enforcement Officer Jack Plumley, it has living quarters above it and therefore does not comply with the construction permit.
Pulsifer indicated there may be plumbing and septic issues as well.
