PORTLAND (AP) — The former head of the Maine Turnpike Authority is due to be released from prison into home confinement.

Paul Violette is due to be released from prison on Wednesday.

Some said the 61-year-old Violette was convicted of one of the most egregious cases of public corruption in Maine history.

He has served less than 20 months of a 3½-year sentence.

The Portland Press Herald (http://bit.ly/194KJjv ) is reporting Violette will live with his older brother Dennis Violette in Orrington while on home confinement.

Violette was sentenced in 2012 for stealing as much as $230,000 from the authority from 2003 to 2010.

Once he’s out of prison, he must perform 1,500 hours of community service.
