NORWAY — Wintry road conditions caused an early-morning head-on collision in the Hobbs Pond area of Route 118 on Tuesday, police said.
Paul Edmonds, 55, of Waterford was traveling west on Route 118 at 5:45 a.m. in his 2006 Ford Ranger when he lost control cresting a hill, said officer James Ventresca of the Norway Police Department.
Traveling east was Daniel Stevens, 60, of Minot. According to Ventresca, Edmonds crossed the centerline, striking Stevens head-on.
Air bags deployed in both vehicles and both drivers were using seat belts, Ventresca said.
Although both men complained of pain from the accident, neither sought treatment, Ventresca said. He believed Stevens might get his vehicle back on the road but Edmonds’ pickup was demolished, the officer said.
No charges were filed or citations issued. Ventresca chalked it up to “bad timing on a bad road.”
