Josef Holt-Andrews of Telstar Regional High School qualified for the Foot Locker National Cross Country Championships by virtue of his fifth-place finish Saturday in the Northeast qualifying race, held at Van Cordlandt Park in New York City.
Holt-Andrews completed the 5-kilometer course in 15:37, 18 seconds off the winning pace set by Mickey Burke of Henrietta, N.Y.
Dan Curts of Ellsworth was two seconds behind Holt-Andrews in sixth. He also earned a national berth.
In all, three Maine runners will compete in San Diego. Kirstin Sandreuter of Greely was the 10th and final qualifier from the girls’ race with a time of 18:06.
The national race is Dec. 14.
