A self taught sculptor, Janelle has been carving for over 30 years in wood, stone and bronze. The hardwoods apple, cherry, butternut, and walnut are specifically selected for their grain and color. He also works in marble, soapstone, and alabaster.
His style melds realism with neoclassicism allowing him to express himself without sacrificing recognition of the subject. His wildlife sculpture portrays emotion by capturing instinctive behavior thus exuding “a bit of humanity” in each piece.
