AUBURN — The city clerk and tax offices will close for one day next week while staff perform computer upgrades.

Renee Bogart, Auburn’s director of information and communications technology, said offices in the southern wing of Auburn Hall’s first floor would be closed to the public the entire day Thursday, Dec. 12.

“We can’t even sell copies of vital records because we have no way to receipt it,” City Clerk Sue Clements-Dallaire said. “The information will be open and our phone switchboard will be operating, and that is located in the clerk’s office. But other than that, we will be closed.”

The closure includes the clerk’s office, the tax office and ICT offices. Those offices should reopen for business at 8 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13.

Clerk functions on the city website will be operating. Those functions include registering licenses for hunting or fishing, dogs, marriages or businesses and paying property taxes.

Clements-Dallaire said the staff would be in the office and answering messages left on the clerk’s voice mail.

“But we will be taking care of paperwork and doing the software upgrades,” she said.

Bogart said the city’s Munis software is being updated.

“It’s a major financial software upgrade, and we try and do them every few years,” she said. “We like to keep up with the latest versions. We’ve done a lot of testing prior, so we feel fairly confident that this will be fairly successful and quick when we do go live.”
