Community Carol Sing is Dec. 8
MONMOUTH — The annual Community Carol Sing will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, at the East Monmouth Methodist Church, Route 135.
The public is welcome to join in singing traditional Christmas carols, listening to community singers and musicians, and readings of stories and poems in the festive setting of this lovely church built in 1838.
Family Game Night at Dempsey
LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing is offering a free family workshop for all ages.
“Family Game Night” will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9., at the Dempsey Center, 29 Lowell St.
Tookie Bright, LCSW and Theresa Beaudette, LCSW will lead an evening of fun for family, friends and loved ones. Non-electronic and cooperative games will offer a positive bonding experience for all ages and abilities. Please feel free to bring family favorites of your own.

IHM Golden Age Club meeting
AUBURN — The next meeting of the IHM Golden Age Club will be Tuesday, Dec. 10 for the club’s Christmas party and gift exchange ($10 maximum).
The party will be held from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Gipper’s Sports Grill on Center St. in Auburn. Club members are responsible for paying for their own meal.

Greene librarian Rose retires
GREENE —The citizens of Greene celebrated the retirement of longtime librarian Patricia A. Rose on Monday, Dec. 2, at the town office.
Rose served as librarian for the Julia Adams Morse Memorial Library for 18 years.
The party was attended by many town officials, library patrons and trustees, and family and friends. Rose’s retirement gift was an electric fireplace insert for the library, which reminded her of the real fire she used to build in the fireplace years ago.
Alzheimer’s disease signs
AUBURN — A special presentation to help people know the 10 signs of Alzheimer’s disease will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12, at the Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring St.
The warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease are often dismissed as side effects of normal aging. If you or someone you know is experiencing memory loss or behavioral changes, it’s time to learn the facts.
Early detection of Alzheimer’s disease gives patients a chance to begin drug therapy, enroll in clinical studies and plan for the future. This interactive workshop, presented by the Alzheimer’s Association, features video clips and an opportunity to ask questions.
Civil War Round Table
BRUNSWICK — A Joshua L. Chamberlain Civil War Round Table Lecture will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12, at the Curtis Memorial Library, 23 Pleasant St.
Speaker Patrick Rael will present “Warfare by Other Means – the Emancipation Policy During the Civil War.”
Lectures are free and open to the public.
Santa arrives on Dec. 14
AUBURN — Santa will arrive by sleigh at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, at Sullivan Park next to Rolly’s Diner. He will participate in a parade that will start at Raymond Park, turn right onto Broad Street, left onto Mill Street and end at Sullivan Park.
The Sullivan Park Christmas tree will be lit at 4:30 p.m. and Santa will be available for pictures with children after the lighting.
All residents and business owners of Auburn are welcome to attend; the United New Auburn Association will serve hot chocolate and cookies.

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners at the Lewiston Armory on Dec. 2 were as follows: first, Rosemarie and Tom Goodwin; second, Les Buzzell and Paul Sherman; third, Roger Labbe and Luke Merry; first in B, Cynthia and Bill Clifford.
Winners on Dec. 3 were: first, Kathleen Burden and Mary Trafton; second/third tie, Jeanine Kivus and Fred Letourneau with Marta Clements and Hazel Glazier; fourth, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn.
