AUGUSTA — The federal government says more than five times as many Mainers signed up for health insurance on the online exchange in the second month of enrollment compared to the first.
The figures released Wednesday by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services show that about 1,480 Mainers picked a plan last month. That’s up from about 270 in October, the first month of open enrollment. In total, about 1,750 Mainers have enrolled.
The report says that nearly 8,840 Maine residents have completed applications for coverage on the exchange, or marketplace. Those applications were submitted on behalf of 16,325 people.
Residents have until Dec. 23 to sign up for coverage that will kick in by Jan. 1.
