MONMOUTH — Monmouth and Winthrop are ready to play Hoops for Hope to raise money for cancer prevention.
The games, which includes JV boys, and girls’ and boys’ varsity, will be played at Monmouth Academy on Dec. 12. The girls’ varsity game will be at 4 p.m., JV boys’ at 5:30 and boys’ varsity at 7.
The event, which organizers hope will become an annual tradition, is an effort by both schools to raise awareness about cancer and cancer prevention. Both communities have been impacted by the loss of beloved members and continue to support alumni, parents and families who are fighting the illness.
All of the athletes participating in Hoops for Hope will do so in memory or support of someone affected by cancer.
Commemorative T-shirts will be sold for $15, with all of the proceeds going directly to the American Cancer Society. Additionally, the Monmouth varsity cheerleaders will hold a 50/50 raffle, and additional donations will be accepted.
