1922 – 2013

AUBURN — Donatien H. Dutil, 91, formerly of Lewiston, died early Wednesday morning, Dec. 11, at Clover Manor Health Care Facility with his loving family by his side following a brief illness.

He was born in Lewiston on Jan. 21, 1922, the son of the late Lucien and Adrienne (Pare) Dutil and had been a resident of this community all of his life.

Donatien was educated at Holy Cross School.

He married the former Lillian Turgeon on Jan. 21, 1946. She died on Oct. 25, 2004.

Donatien was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II in the European Theater from 1942 to 1945. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was employed as a route salesman for Country Kitchen for many years until his retirement in 1984.

Donatien enjoyed playing volleyball, playing cards, attending military reunions and most of all, spending time with his granddaughters and great-grandchildren.

He was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church and the Holy Cross Seniors.

He is survived by one son, David Dutil and his wife, Anne, of Lewiston; two grandchildren, Christine Martin and her husband, Steven, of Lewiston, and Michelle Gardner and her husband, Brian, of Brooksville, Fla.; four great-grandchildren, Mikayla Dutil, Taylor Martin, Stevie Martin and Keeley Gardner; one brother, Raymond Dutil and his wife, Linda, of Augusta; one sister-in-law, Lucille Dutil of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, Lillian Dutil, he was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Bertrand, Normand and Marcel Dutil; a sister-in-law, Doreen Dutil; and a niece, Denise Woods.
