Affordable Care Act rep available

BRIDGTON — Amy March of Denmark has been trained as a navigator for the Affordable Care Act. She is working with Opportunity Alliance and is available to folks in this area.

Mastectomy fitter available Dec. 18

NORWAY — The Women’s Imaging Center at Stephens Memorial Hospital along with the Medicine Shoppe will host a special fit event in the SMH Women’s Imaging Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, with certified mastectomy fitter Joan Caron.

The special fit event will feature sleepwear and active wear which is customized to accommodate ladies that have had mastectomies; however, the garments are suitable for everyone. There will be a 30 percent discount for all attire.

Cancer Patient Awareness Day

AUGUSTA — A Cancer Patient Awareness Day, The Face of Cancer in Maine, will take place on Thursday, Dec. 19, at the Hall of Flags in the State House.

From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. there will be an opportunity for State Senators and Representatives to have coffee and conversation with Maine cancer patients and survivors. The event is about Mainers helping Mainers and what can be done collectively to improve the future. It is being hosted by the Maine Coalition to Fight Prostate Cancer.

Trip to Lancaster, Amish Country

RICHMOND — The Golden Oldies Center is sponsoring a trip to Lancaster and the Amish Country from April 28-May 1. The trip is open to the general public and is not limited to seniors.

The trip includes six meals, a theatre performance, a tour of Lancaster, the Amish Country and of the Mennonite Village. Participants will have the opportunity to have a bird’s eye view of life in a 19th-century village in Landis Valley.

The cost of the trip is $360. The initial deposit is $75 due on Dec. 31. The final payment is due Feb. 21.

BANGOR — USDA Maine State Farm Service Agency State Executive Director, Donovan E. Todd III, reminds farmers and ranchers that Farm Storage Facility Loans are available through FSA.

FSA offers low-interest loans to grain producers to build new or upgrade existing storage facilities and permanent drying and handling equipment.

Intermediate beekeeping course

FALMOUTH — University of Maine Cooperative Extension in Cumberland County will hold an intermediate beekeeping course titled Apiary Management with master beekeepers Jack Hildreth and Erin MacGregor-Forbes at USM in Portland on consecutive Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30 p.m., from Jan. 8 to Feb. 12.

The $130 per-person fee includes a textbook; a $180 fee covers two family members and a textbook to share. The course is designed for beekeepers that have more than two years of experience and/or currently manage two or more hives.
