LEWISTON Fire Investigator says improperly disposed smoking material to blame for blaze early Sunday.
At 7:36 a.m. Sunday, fire broke out in a residence at 15 Dawn St., bringing firefighters from Lewiston and mutual aid from Auburn Fire Department.
According to Fire Investigator, Paul Ouellette, the structure sustained about $20,000 damage in the fire that was mostly confined to the basement.
Ouellette said cold temperatures and snowy conditions complicated firefighting operations in the fire that displaced six residents. He said the fire has been ruled accidental and no further investigation is necessary.
