OXFORD — A local man faces multiple charges after police searched his vehicle Friday night and found heroin, marijuana and a loaded firearm, police Chief Jon Tibbetts said.
Brock P. Leach, 37, of Oxford, was arrested after police found heroin packaged for sale, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a loaded 9 mm handgun in his car, which he was driving on Route 121, according to Oxford Police Chief Jon Tibbetts.
Officer Reginald Littlefield responded around 9 p.m. to a report of a car being operated erratically, Tibbetts said.
The passenger was out on bail and subject to random searches and drug tests by police, therefore allowing officers to search the car, Tibbetts said.
Police found a cigarette package containing 14 packets of heroin. Leach said it was his and he intended to sell it, Tibbetts said. Police also found a usable amount of marijuana, a marijuana pipe and a loaded 9 mm handgun, according to Tibbetts. All the items seized by police were tied to Leach and the passenger was not charged with a crime, Tibbetts said.
Leach faces a felony charge of aggravated drug trafficking and a slew of lesser charges, including possession of illegal drugs, possession of a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle and operating after license suspension. He taken to the Oxford County Jail in Paris where he posted $1,000 cash bail and was released at 4 a.m. Saturday, according to officials.
