FARMINGTON — Franklin County commissioners voted Tuesday after an executive session to reinstate holiday leave for patrol deputies in their union contract, county Clerk Julie Magoon said Wednesday.
The Fraternal Order of Police, the patrol deputies union, and commissioners entered into a four-year contract in November that runs from July 1, 2012, to June 30, 2016.
Deputies had been working under a contract that expired June 30, 2012.
Commissioners also voted Tuesday to pay two detectives $600 each for a clothing allowance for 2012, Magoon said. They will also receive the money in two installments each year in the last three years of the contract, she said.
Commissioner Fred Hardy of New Sharon abstained from the vote, she said. Hardy voted against contract approval last month.
The agreement calls for patrol deputies to receive a 2 percent retroactive wage increase to July 1, 2012.
They are to receive a 2 percent wage increase plus a 1.8 percent cost-of-living increase for this year until June 30, 2014.
The third year of the contract provides a 2 percent wage increase plus a cost-of-living increase. The latter will be determined at the appropriate time during each year of the contract.
During the fourth year, deputies will receive a 3 percent wage increase plus a cost-of-living increase raise beginning on July 1, 2015.
In other business, there will be a county courthouse Christmas celebration from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at the Registry of Deeds Office. The public is welcome to attend.
The courthouse will close at noon Tuesday and will reopen Thursday, Dec. 26.
