HARTFORD — Principal suppliers for winter sand and salt joined in a free discussion over the condition of the sand Thursday night at the regular selectman meeting.
Board of Selectman Chairman Lee Holman said she asked the suppliers to be present as the board was not sure the town was getting all the sand they had contracted for. After all was “said and done” it was determined that the town had plenty of sand stored in the shed.
The suppliers were asked to be sure to meet the October deadline next year so sand won’t come in frozen chunks.
Harley Swanson from the Road Committee said the town may be putting out too much sand and possibly too much salt has been added to the pile.
Swanson also asked for support from the board to have the Road Committee test the roads to make sure road quality is in line with work being done.
The committee will be meeting the first and third Tuesdays in January and will discuss several town roads. People are being asked to come to these meetings to see where their road is on the priority list. Road Commissioner Jeremy Johnson said the voices of the people must be heard at the meeting.
In other business, the board:
* Adopted new General Assistance guidelines after a brief hearing. Holman said there was little change over the previous guidelines.
* Appointed Lennie Eichman and Allan Ray to the Ordinance Committee.
