NORWAY — Program organizers say the recent Christmas for Teens benefit show raised $2,500.
The show, titled Holiday Treasures, was held Dec. 13.
Now in its 14th year, the show raises money to help buy Christmas presents for economically-eligible and homeless teenagers in the Oxford Hills region.
“The Christmas for Teens benefit show was a huge success, with a great set, wonderful performers, including many teens and a strong chorus of over 50 volunteer community members,” said Jean Delamater of the program’s sponsor, Rightstart Inc. It’s the single largest fundraiser of the program, she said.
“Cynthia Wescott, longtime producer of the show, along with the cast and crew helped raise $2,500 toward Christmas for Teens,” she said.
Christmas for Teens is a a nonprofit organization helping teenagers in the Oxford Hills School District towns of Norway, Paris, Oxford, Otisfield, Hebron, Harrison, Waterford and West Paris. The requests for gifts often include clothing, personal care items, music, games, books and gift certificates.
“Once again, the community came out, on a very cold night, to support deserving teens in the Oxford Hills. We appreciate all the support of our community,” Delamater said.
The fundraising will continue. On Friday, students at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School will hold a Hat Day to raise funds for the program, Principal Ted Moccia said.
Although the deadline for applications has passed, donations are always appreciated, Delamater said. Donations may be sent to Christmas for Teens, care of Rightstart, P.O. Box 726, Norway, ME 04268.
