Martin drained three 3-pointers on the afternoon, while netting 14 points. Tyler Michaud recorded 15 points to lead the Knights (2-3).

Ryan Gullikson tallied a game high 21 points for Fryeburg, while Alex Blake paced the Raiders with 12 points.

Boothbay 64, Telstar 29

BETHEL — John Hepburn surged for a game-high 20 points for Boothbay, as Seahawks ran past Telstar 64-29 in a boys’ MVC basketball contest.

Abel Bryer paced the Seahawks with eight points, as they remain undefeated on the season and improve to 6-0.

GRAY — Lake Region’s offense spread the ball well, utilizing five different players to put up 10 points or more, as the Lakers rolled past Gray-New Gloucester 65-50 in a boys’ basketball contest.

Quinn Piland and Marcus DeVoe led Lake Region with 12 and 11 points respectively. Mark Williams, Sam Smith and Ben Chaine knotted 10 points each for the Lakers (3-4).

Zack Haskell led the Patriots with 14 points, while Andreas Kariotis recorder 13 on the afternoon.

FAIRFIELD — Lew Jensen was firing on all cylinders Saturday afternoon, dropping in a game high 22 points to go along with 13 boards, as he led Edward Little to a 73-38 routing of Lawrence in boys varsity basketball.

Kaleb Main helped the EL scoring effort with 16 points of his own, while Luke Sterling distributed the ball well, recording eight assists for the Eddies (2-3).

Dustin Simpson-Bragg netted a team-high 9 points for the Bulldogs, all of which came from behind the arc.

Madison 50, Mountain Valley 26

MADISON — Dustin West led the evenly paced offense of Madison with 10 points and 10 rebounds as they rolled to a 50-26 triumph over Mountain Valley in an MVC boys basketball match up.

Ty Cowan and Derek LeBlanc pulled in eight points a piece for the Bulldogs (4-2). Caleb Gauvin had a team-leading eight points for the Falcons, as they fall to 1-4 on the season.

Lake Region 43, Gray-New Gloucester 36

GRAY — With the score 21-19 in favor of Lake Region at the end of the 2nd quarter, they pulled away in the 2nd half to top Gray-New Gloucester 43-36 in a girls varsity basketball match up.

Tiana-Jo Carter and Ceecee Hancock led the Lakers (5-1) with 10 points each on the afternoon, while Jordan Turner tallied nine.

Maria Valente and Alicia Dumont paced the lady Patriots (3-3) with 14 and 10 points respectively.

Boothbay 45, Telstar 30

BETHEL — Morgan Crocker drained a game-high 19 points and Sara Durgin added 10 more — including a 3-pointer — to lead Boothbay to a 45-30 win over Telstar in girls’ basketball action Saturday.

With the win, the Seahawks leveled their record in the MVC at 3-3.

FREYBURG — Julia Quinn scored a game-high 16 points to lead Fryeburg Academy to a 55-41 victory over Poland in girls’ basketball action Saturday.

The Raiders (2-3) improved their margin in each quarter, leading 22-16 at halftime. Skye Dole contributed nine points for Fryeburg.

The Raiders tossedan impressive 24 points from the free throw line. Quinn had eight, while Dole provided five.

Emily Bolduc drained a team-high 14 points, while Michaella Arsenault netted 12 for the Knights (4-2).

Providence 94, Maine 70

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Bryce Cotton and Kadeem Batts led the way with 22 points each as Providence packaged a 94-70 victory over the University of Maine in mens’ basketball action Saturday.

Zarko Valjarevic was a catalyst for Maine’s offense, scoring 16 points, while Xavier Pollard contributed 15, shooting 7-of-14 from the field.

The Black Bears (1-9) allowed 30 second chance points against Providence as the Friars (10-2) controlled the glass and also outrebounded Maine 46-23 in the winning effort.

Women’s basketball

Maine 72, Towson 58

BANGOR — Lauren Bodine recorded 15 points and Liz Wood added her third double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds as the University of Maine cruised to a 72-58 victory over Towson in women’s basketball action Saturday.

The Black Bears (6-5) closed the first half with a 9-0 run, culminating with a Bodine three-pointer for a 41-29 lead.

Maine improved to 54-36 advantage midway throught the second half.

The Tigers (4-7) chipped away at Maine, cutting the lead down to nine with 2:35 to play.

But, the Black Bears once again answered with a 5-0 run to secure the win.
