Despite what we heard about Windows 8, we just got a new computer. It’s a learning curve, for sure, especially for this 61-year-old “dubbah.”
Our old printer wouldn’t mesh either, as I discovered while setting this new beastie up. So I went to a big box store and got us a new printer and then I set’er up. Ayuh.
Speaking of “dubbahs” (English translation:”dubbers,” which has nothing to do with job opportunities at a sound studio), we were at a craft fair in a small town recently. I spotted some crafts at one table that piqued my interest.
Y’see, there were these three wooden signs. Two of them each had a carved wooden handgun, from which hung its own sign. The first one read, “Gun Control: Use 2 Hands.” The second gun’s sign read, “We don’t call 911.”
But what tickled me was this apparatus from which three empty beer cans were strung to hang next to each other. It had a sign that read, “Redneck Wind-chime.”
As I was laughingly pointing out to the missus what that thing said, I noticed the lady proprietor listening in. I watched her doubling over with laughter as I said out loud to my sweetie, “But we don’t have rednecks ’round here. ‘Round here we call ’em ‘dubbahs.'”
See? She knew. That craft lady instantly recognized the word “dubbah.” And considering where we were at the time, that makes it official. “Dubbah” is the real deal.
Ah, proof. The ultimate vindication.
Ayuh.
