JAY — Selectpersons are interviewing five candidates from Maine for the town manager position.

They interviewed three candidates Thursday night and plan to interview two more Monday, Town Manager Ruth Cushman said Friday.

The five were chosen from a pool of 24. There were 12 applications from Maine, and others from Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Vermont and Washington, she said.

Cushman submitted her letter of resignation in November after more than 10 years as manager. Her last day is tentatively set for Feb. 24, but she will remain on the payroll until March or April to use accrued vacation and floating holiday time.

“I am presuming that by the 13th (of January) we will have a finalist,” she said.
