YARMOUTH — Sedrick Simons scored two goals Wednesday night, and Edward Little survived four power-play goals by Yarmouth in a 5-4 boys’ hockey victory at Travis Roy Arena.
Branden Dyer, Liam Benson and Cade Chapman also scored for the Red Eddies (4-3). Cody Woodward had two assists.
Dyer scored with 11 seconds remaining in the first period to give EL a 2-0 lead. That margin grew to 4-1 on goals by Benson and Simons in a 31-second span of the second before Walter Conrad and Max Watson each scored on the man advantage late in the period for the Clippers (3-2-1).
Chapman’s power-play goal at 6:58 of the third, set up by Dyer, gave the Eddies breathing room.
Devin Dumont made 32 saves for EL. Pat Grant and Isaak Dearden also scored for Yarmouth.
Boys’ basketball
Spruce Mountain 80, Mt. Abram 45
MT. ABRAM — Spruce Mountain used a 34-15 run in the third quarter to pull away and post a 80-45 victory over Mt. Abram in a MVC boys’ basketball tilt Wednesday.
Anthony York led the Phoenix with 17 points, while Peter Theriault chipped in 16 and John McKenna added 11. Austin Couture also contributed 10 points.
The Roadrunners (1-7) were paced by Danny Luce with 19 points. Amos Withee chipped in 17.
Lisbon 47, Wiscasset 42
LISBON — Lisbon made a 16-9 run in the final frame to seal a 47-42 win over Wiscasset in an MVC boys’ basketball tilt Wednesday.
Tucker Brannon led the Greyhounds (4-5) with 14 points, while Johnny Yim chipped in 13.
The Wolverines (5-4) were paced by Matt Craig with 13 points, while Dale Peaslee added 10.
Monmouth 57, Telstar 31
MONMOUTH — After building a 21-14 advantage in the first half, Monmouth hit high gear and sprinted away to a 57-31 win over Telstar in MVC action Wednesday.
Marcques Houston led the Mustangs (4-3) with 16 points, while Brandon Goff added 12.
Austin Ryerson paced the Rebels (1-8) with eight points. Nick Conrad chipped in six and Mike Dougherty added five.
Dirigo 92, Carrabec 52
DIXFIELD — Dirigo used a 24-11 run in the second quarter to take command and sprint away with a 92-52 MVC victory over Carrabec Wednesday.
Riley Robinson led the undefeated Cougars (7-0) with 28 points, while Kaine Hutchins provided 22.
Elliott Gorr topped the Cobras (1-6) with 15 points. Richard Layton dropped in 14.
Girls’ hockey
Leavitt/EL 1, Winslow 0
WINSLOW — Taylor Landry netted an unassisted goal at the 12:10 mark of the second period as Leavitt/Edward Little skated past Winslow 1-0 in KVAC girls’ hockey action Wednesday.
Tori Sanford made four saves for the Red Hornets (9-2) to preserve the shutout.
Jessica Cain handled netkeeping duties for the Black Raiders (2-10), turning back 39 of 40 shots.
