LIVERMORE FALLS — The RSU 73 board on Thursday set a tentative timeline for hiring a new superintendent and developing the 2014-15 budget.
They also named members of the Superintendent Search Committee.
Robert Wall submitted his resignation last month and will retire June 30. He has led the district since 2011 and led the Jay School Department for seven years before that.
The position will be advertised beginning Feb. 1, with applications submitted by March 15. From March 15 through April 15 the Search Committee will review the applications, and from April 15 to April 30 conduct preliminary screenings. Interviews are tentatively set for April 30 to May 15.
A contract will be negotiated in mid-May with the new superintendent to begin work before the 2014-15 school year, which begins July 1, if the timeline goes according to the plan.
Board Chairwoman Denise Rodzen said if a suitable candidate it not found the position will be readvertised.
She also said Wall will continue working until a new superintendent is hired.
All district employees will be sent a list of qualifications which the Search Committee will use.
Rodzen said the Search Committee aims to represent all segments of the district. Committee members will be:
* One elementary school teacher each from Livermore Elementary School and Jay Elementary School;
* One teacher each from Spruce Mountain Middle School and Spruce Mountain High School;
* T.J. Plourde, principal of the middle school, from the administration;
* Chris Ellingwood from the teachers’ union and alternative education;
* Tina Collins from special education;
* Eileen Miazga, director of adult and community education;
* Stacie Field representing the business office and food service;
* Ken Vining, director of buildings, grounds and transportation;
* One school board member each from Livermore Falls, Livermore and Jay;
* Rodzen, board chairwoman;
* Either Craig Suttie or Randy Easter representing technology; and
* An employee representing the educational technicians and secretaries bargaining unit to be named by the union.
Board members will also develop the 2014-15 budget during this time.
The process is expected to begin March 11. Meetings are scheduled for March 20, 25 and 27; the district budget meeting vote for April 8; and the budget referendum for April 29.
