WILTON — Police are seeking help in the investigation of a Monday night stabbing.
A 33-year-old Readfield woman reported she was attacked after her 2006 Suzuki broke down on McCrillis Corner Road close to the Chesterville town line, said Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.
Maine State Police Sgt. Matt Casavant said the victim told troopers her attacker was a man driving a white Chevrolet pickup. He was described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with a slender build, a goatee and a mad bomber hat.
Casavant said the man stopped to assist the woman and then assaulted her. After a struggle, the assailant left the scene.
The woman suffered stab wounds to her arm but was able to restart her vehicle and drive 3 miles to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, where she was treated and released.
State police, working with the Wilton Police Department, are asking anyone who was in the area of McCrillis Corner Road and Route 133 between 7 and 9:15 p.m. Monday night to call them in Augusta at 624-7076 or 1-800-452-4664, or to call Wilton police directly.
