WILTON — Police say a woman driving north on Route 133 Friday morning at a high rate of speed struck the vehicle in front of her.
The impact caused her vehicle to jump a snowbank and fly about 20 feet before coming to rest in a ditch, Wilton Police Sgt. Chad Abbott said.
Witnesses told police Victoria Kennedy, 25, of Livermore Falls passed several vehicles near Bean’s Corner at a high rate of speed as she drove her 1999 Ford Escort north, Abbott said.
He said Kennedy then came up behind a 2010 Mercury driven by Diane Bonnevie, 66, of Jay and rear-ended her vehicle.
Bonnevie was pushed into the opposite lane, but no traffic was coming toward her, Abbott said. She was able to stop her car.
Kennedy was not wearing a seat belt and was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital by NorthStar ambulance for a cut on her forehead.
Abbott said the road was wet, but that was not a factor in the accident reported at 8:55 a.m.
Bonnevie’s vehicle suffered little damage. Kennedy’s car suffered damage on the front end and rear bumper. It was towed from the scene, Abbott said.
