JAY — Coach Chris Bessey reached the 200-win milestone for his career as Spruce Mtn. cruised to a 94-52 victory over Carrabec in boys’ MVC basketball.
The 200th win came in Bessey’s 15th year of coaching, working with the Jay boys, Livermore boys, Jay girls and now the Spruce Mountain boys’ basketball team.
Deonte Ring notched a game high 19 points for the Phoenix. John McKenna chipped in 17 points for the Phoenix (11-2), while Peter Theriault recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 asissts.
For the Cobras (2-10), William Crawford, Levi Murray and John Layman all tallied 10 points.
Maranacook 78, Leavitt 65
READFIELD — Taylor Wilbur notched 26 points on the night, as Maranacook topped Leavitt 78-65 in a high scoring boys’ KVAC basketball match up on Friday.
Jason Brooks chipped in 12 points for the Black Raiders (9-3) while Kent Mohlar and Caleb Jackson each tacked on 11.
Gabe Seeley led a balanced score sheet for the Hornets with 18 points, as they fall to 3-9 on the season.
Wiscasset 56, Telstar 42
BETHEL — Matt Craig drained 18 points to go along with seven boards, as Wiscasset topped Telstar 56-42 in boys’ MVC basketball action on Friday.
Brandon Sprague paced the Wolverines (8-5) with 11 points.
Mike Dougherty led the scoring drive for the Rebels (1-10) with 11 points, while Austin Ryerson chipped in 10.
Edward Little 59, Skowhegan 46
SKOWHEGAN — Llewellyn Jensen dropped in 19 points, as Edward Little cruised to a 59-46 victory over Skowhegan in boys’ KVAC basketball action.
Andrew Middleton added 12 points for the Red Eddies (8-5) with 12 point.
Issac Witham and Dequan Frost led the scoring effort for the Indians (1-12) with 14 points each.
Oxford Hills 40, Messalonskee 34
SOUTH PARIS — Luke Davidson hauled in a game high 14 points, as Oxford Hills topped Messalonskee 40-34 in boys’ basketball action on Friday.
Andrew Fleming helped out the Vikings (8-4) with eight points while grabbing 12 boards. Oxford Hills stepped out to a 19-9 first quarter lead and held on throughout the night to secure the win.
Nick Mayo led the Eagles (8-4) with 14 points.
Boothbay 68, St. Dom’s 36
BOOTHBAY — Evan Hepburn started off the night red hot, scoring all of his 16 points in the first half, as Boothbay cruised to a 68-36 victory over St. Dom’s in boys’ basketball action on Friday.
John Hepburn tallied a team high 25 points for the Seahawks who improve to 11-1 on the season.
Matt Dyer paced the Saints with 15 points as they drop to 4-7 on the season.
Waynflete 63, Poland 57
POLAND — Junior guard Henry Baker drained 21 points to lead Waynflete to a 63-57 victory over Poland in WMC boys’ basketball action Friday.
The Knights (5-7) made a late run after being 13 points down in the fourth quarter. The Flyers (9-2) only scored one field goal in the final quarter, making 13-of-16 from the foul line.
Milo Belleau contributed to Waynflete’s success with 16 points.
Sophomore forward John Fossett tallied a team-leading 16 points for Poland in the losing effort.
Valley 81, Buckfield 46
BUCKFIELD — Collin Miller tabulated 17 points as Valley humbled Buckfield with an 81-46 victory in EWC boys’ basketball action Friday.
Dylan Belanger collected all 11 of his game points in the first quarter for the Cavaliers (8-3).
Junior guard Jared Eastman had a stellar offensive outing with 28 points, including three treys, to lead the Bucks (3-8). Jonah Williams chimed in with a field goal and 13 rebounds.
Bangor 67, Lewiston 58
BANGOR — Senior guard Xavier Lewis shoveled in 20 points to lead Bangor to a 67-58 triumph over Lewiston in KVAC boys’ basketball action Friday.
The Rams (8-5) bolted out to a 28-14 hafltime lead. Alex Campbell pitched in with 14 points for Bangor.
Junior guard Quintarian Brown recorded 19 points for the Blue Devils (5-8), who cut the lead to as close as five points in the final quarter. But Bangor nailed it down with several late free throws.
Monmouth 57, Madison 35
MONMOUTH — Brandon Goff and Marcques Houston scored 12 points apiece as Monmouth bested Madison 57-35 in boys’ basketball action Friday.
The Mustangs (7-4) galloped to a 27-13 halftime lead, and added another eight point spread in the third quarter.
Chase Malloy was the leading scorer for the Bulldogs (5-7).

Poland 49, Waynflete 34
PORTLAND — Sophomore guard Sarah Bolduc scored 14 points to lead Poland to a 49-34 victory over Waynflete in WMC girls’ basketball action Friday.
The Knights (8-4) led 27-23 at the midpoint. Emily Bolduc chipped in with 12 points for Poland.
Poland turned up the defensive heat in the second half, limiting the Flyers (7-5) to 11 points. Senior point guard Leigh Fernandez recorded a team-leading 12 points for Waynflete in the losing effort.
Wiscasset 52, Telstar 37
BETHEL — Briana Goud and Kayla Gordon worked the inside to combine for 41 pionts as Wiscasset clawed their way to a 52-37 triumph over Telstar in MVC girls’ basketball action Friday.
The Wolverines (3-8) led 25-13 at the midpoint. Goud topped Gordon by one point with a 21 count.
Kayla Gordon paced the Rebels (1-10) with four field goals, including a trey, for nine points in the losing effort.
Maranacook 52, Leavitt 23
TURNER — Junior guard Christine Miller led the Black Bears with 20 points as Maranacook notched a 52-23 victory over Leavitt in KVAC girls’ basketball action Friday.
The Black Bears (8-5) used their full court pressure defense to force the Hornets (6-6) into 32 turnovers. Sarah Clough had four field goals, including three from beyond the arc, to contribute 11 points.
Sophomore center Chatel Eells collected nine points, 13 rebounds and five blocked shots for Leavitt in the losing effort.
St. Dom’s 66, Boothbay 52
BOOTHBAY — Kelly Pomerleau and Faith Grady combined for 51 points as St. Dom’s floated to a 66-52 win over Boothbay in girls’ basketball action Friday.
The Saints (11-2) jumped out to a 35-20 halftime lead.
Crocker paced the Seahawks (5-8) with 19 points in a balanced attack for Boothbay in the losing effort.
Edward Little 53, Skowhegan 43
AUBURN — Kory Norcross and Emily Jacques combined for 35 of Edward Little’s 53 points, as the Red Eddies edged past Skowhegan 53-43 in girls’ KVAC basketball action.
Norcross led the way with 18 points, while Jacques chipped in 17 of her own. The Red Eddies iced the game by shooting 11-for-11 from the charity line in the fourth quarter alone, as they improved to 12-1 on the season.
Senior Morgan Buker led the Indians (8-5) with 12 points on the day.
Forest Hills 60, Rangeley 54
RANGELEY — Kori Coro scored 28 points and dropped in six 3-pointers as Forest Hills beat previously undefeated Rangeley, 60-54 in a girls’ basketball game Friday.
The Lakers (10-1) held a 35-33 lead going into to halftime before Forest Hills (12-0) turned up the head in the second half. Anna Carrier added 14 points for Forest Hills.
Seve Deery-DeRaps scored 20 points and Blayke Morin deposited 19 points and pulled down seven rebounds for Rangeley. Taylor Esty scored nine points and pulled down eight rebounds.
Lewiston 43, Bangor 36
LEWISTON — Jenessa Talarico and Brie Wilson combined for 29 of Lewiston’s 43 points, as the Blue Devils topped Bangor 43-36 in a girls’ basketball match up on Friday night.
Lewiston outscored Bangor 28-17 in the second half, as they finished the game strong and improve to 3-10 on the season.
Sophomore Sarah Bragg paced the Rams (4-10) with 12 points.
Valley 27, Buckfield 19
BUCKFIELD — Valley produced a strong 18-point second half to secure the win over Buckfield, 27-19, in a girls’ basketball contest on Friday.
Haven Mayhew, Jordan Belanger and Kya White all paced the Cavaliers (5-6) with six points each. Teagan Laweryson also chipped in four for Valley.
Alyssa Therriault and Abigail Campbell led the Bucks (2-10) with six points a piece.
Gray-New Gloucester 73, Old Orchard Beach 25
GRAY — Maria Valente recorded and impressive stat sheet on the day, totaling 23 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, as Gray-New Gloucester cruised to a 73-25 victory over Old Orchard Beach in girls’ basketball.
Skye Conley netted 12 points for the Patriots, as they improve to 7-5 on the season. Stephanie Greaton paced Gray-New Gloucester with 10 rebounds to go along with eight points.
Junior Mackenzie Rague led the Seagulls (6-5) with seven points.
