Diane and Larry
Thomas
LISBON FALLS — A surprise 25th anniversary party was held Aug. 11 in honor of Larry and Diane Thomas of Lisbon Falls, at Range Pond State Park in Poland. Mr. Thomas and the former Diane Perkens were married Aug. 13, 1988 at Pleasant Street Baptist Church in Mechanic Falls.
The couple was escorted to the party by their two sons, Zachery and Lance Thomas and nephew, Sammy. The party was given by the two daughters of the couple, Meagan and Morgan Thomas, along with special help from Mr. Thomas’ mother and Mrs. Thomas’ sister, Kathy Downing. Other family members helped in the planning as well.
The original wedding party was in attendance, except for the ring bearer. They were Dick Martin, best man, Elaine Brackett, maid of honor, and Tia Harris, flower girl. There were 116 people who attended the special event, of which 94 were family members, among them Mr. Thomas’ mother, brother, sister and their families, and Mrs. Thomas’ parents, who also share their anniversary, celebrating 49 years. Mrs. Thomas’ two brothers and four sisters all attended, as did their families. The couple’s oldest son, Zak, shares a birthday, 24 years old, on this special day. Mrs. Thomas’ cousin, Debbie from Connecticut was a surprise guest, along with her fiance, Mike.
Two separate DVDs were playing at the party, one made by the daughters of the couple and the other put together by Mrs. Thomas. Both highlighted different events in the lives of the couple, which were important to them.
A beautiful cake was made by Mr. Thomas’ aunt, Charlene, and a homemade card box was made by Mrs. Thomas’ father, Ken. Her mother, Frances, made a scrapbook for the event, highlighting special events in the past 25 years. The couple received many cards and a few gifts. They also received some special gifts, a set of toast glasses made by the couple’s niece, Lindsay; great-aunt, Doris, passed along her 25th anniversary cup and saucer and Mrs. Thomas’ parents passed on decorations from their own 25th anniversary party.
Family members contributed to the variety of foods that were served. Guests enjoyed the beach and many had brought beach games to play as well.
The couple spent three days celebrating in the Belfast and surrounding area following the party.
