VFW meeting on Wednesday
LEWISTON — The Longley-Dionne VFW Post 9150 will hold their monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, at the Lewiston Armory.
The meeting was originally scheduled for Jan. 20 but because of a national holiday on Monday, the meeting will take place on Wednesday.
All officers and members are encouraged to attend.
Auburn Library homework help
AUBURN — In partnership with the Bates College’s Adolescent Literacy course, the Auburn Public Library will hold homework help for teens.
Each week, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30 to 4 p.m. and on Thursdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m., a student from this course will be available at the library to assist teens with their homework.
The program begins on Wednesday, Jan. 22, and runs through Thursday, April 3.

Chili Chowder Challenge is Jan. 25
MONMOUTH — The Chili Chowder Challenge will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Helen Melledy Hall, 755 Main St.
Donation is $5 per person, $20 for families up to six.
It is all-you-can-eat. Participants can select best chili, best chowder and kicking cornbread.
All proceeds go to the Monmouth Fuel Assistance Fund.
Q&A sessions on APL Media Lab
AUBURN — Have you been curious about the Auburn Public Library’s new Media Lab but not interested in a full workshop? Have some questions about Macintosh Basics, iPhoto or iMovie? Bring those and other questions related to the Media Lab’s equipment and software to the CREATE! Media Lab Q&A sessions.
The Media Lab will be open for questions from 2 to 3 p.m. on Mondays, Jan. 27, Feb. 10 and 24, March 10 and 24 and April 14 and 28.

Advance planning, prostate cancer
LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing is offering a free advance planning workshop for prostate cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. “Prostate Cancer Support Group: Critical Illness and Advance Planning Matters” will take place from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at the Dempsey Center, 29 Lowell St.
From wellness to diagnosis to end-of-life, conversations and written directives about what you want, and don’t want, matter. Katherine M. Amsden, LCSW, Palliative Care, CMMC and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, will discuss wishes and choices across the continuum of care. Topics and terms related to advance care planning will be explained including: CPR, DNR, DNI, artificial hydration/nutrition and comfort care.

Knights plan bean, casserole supper
SABATTUS — The Knights of Columbus of the Our Lady of the Rosary Parish will sponsor a baked beans and casserole supper from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at Our Lady of the Rosary, 131 High St.
Proceeds will benefit parish programs.
Contributions for the complete supper including desserts and beverages are $7.50 for adults, $3 for children under 12.
