BETHEL — Tori Ryerson scored 12 of her game-high 23 points in the second quarter Wednesday night, staking Telstar to a substantial lead that held up in a 50-39 MVC girls’ basketball victory.

Ryerson hit three 3-pointers and hauled down 17 rebounds for Telstar (2-10). The Rebels held the Roadrunners (1-11) to three points in the opening quarter and used Ryerson’s second-period outburst to build a 29-13 advantage.

The Rebels overcame a two-point third quarter and pulled away in the fourth for the win. Becca Howard added 13 points.

Brooke Millbury paced Mt. Abram with 13 points. Olivia Ryan registered 11.

Rangeley 53, Kents Hill 25

RANGELEY — Blayke Morin erupted for 11 points in the first quarter Wednesday, and Rangeley raced to a 21-2 lead before putting away Kents Hill, 53-25, in girls’ basketball.

Morin finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Class D Lakers (12-1). Tori Letarte added 13.

Emma Curin topped the Class C Huskies (5-3) with 13 points. Ashley Doyle tallied 10.

Boys’ basketball

Mountain Valley 54, Oak Hill 43

RUMFORD — Caleb Gauvin exploded for 22 points Wednesday night and Mountain Valley snapped a 12-game MVC boys’ basketball losing skid, 54-43, over Oak Hill.

Jordan Pilgrim produced 15 points for the Falcons (2-12), who jumped out to a 15-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and stayed in control throughout.

Parker Asselin paced the Raiders (3-10) with 16 points, including three 3-pointers. Derek Gamage tacked on 13.

Boys’ hockey

Edward Little 9, Bonny Eagle 3

AUBURN — Sedrick Simons and Matt Grenier each scored two goals Wednesday night, launching Edward Little to a 9-3 Class A hockey win over Bonny Eagle.

EL (6-3) scored four goals in the first nine minutes of the game. Ryan Raby and Liam Benson found the net along with Grenier and Simons.

Bonny Eagle rallied with back-to-back goals by Tom Komulainen and Tanner McClure to pull within a pair at the end of the first period, but a power-play goal from Cody Woodward 54 seconds into the second sent the Red Eddies on their way.

Max Giard and Cade Chapman also lit the lamp for the Eddies. Ben Steele logged three assists. Cam Brown had a goal for the Scots. Devin Dumont and Zach Gosselin split time in goal, combining for six saves.
