WOODSTOCK — Sheriff’s deputies are looking into the possible theft of a stockpile of returnable containers worth approximately $100 from a property near North Pond.
Oxford County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Danielle Welch said Thursday that she was called to a residence on Camp Road on Jan. 17 after the owner reported possible trespassing on the property.
Welch said the owner noticed footprints in the snow around the property before realizing that the bottles had been removed. The owner’s last visit to the property was a week prior to the discovery, she said.
According to Welch, the area is fairly well-traveled, especially during ice fishing season. She did not know if the shed or returnables were visible from outside the property.
Welch said the Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the bottles’ disappearance and is tracking down some leads in the case.
