AVON — A 16-year-old boy was injured Tuesday afternoon when the snowmobile he was driving left a trail, Cpl. John MacDonald of the Maine Warden Service said Wednesday.
The boy was alone at the time and wearing a helmet, he said.
The boy was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington by his father, MacDonald said, where he was treated for abrasions on his arm and symptoms of a concussion.
Wardens were alerted to the accident by Mt. Blue State Park employees. They located a 2000 Yamaha Venture snowmobile off the trail on Wednesday morning on the Day Mountain Road in Avon, MacDonald said. The employees told the wardens the type of snowmobile and the 2013 registration number.
Wardens attempted to make contact with the registered owner while park employees found foot tracks that led approximately 2 miles from the crash to Route 4 in Avon, MacDonald said.
This incident remains under investigation, he said.
