BETHEL — The Mahoosuc Land Trust will be hosting their first winter hike of the season on Saturday, Jan. 25, at Crow Mountain in Shelburne, N.H.
Mahoosuc Land Trust member Jean Bass said that the hike will be a two-hour snowshoe climb to the summit of Crow Mountain, and will be lead by naturalist Rick Churchill.
“We’re asking hikers to bring their own snowshoes and poles, and to dress appropriately for the weather,” Bass said.
Those interested in hiking can either meet at 12:30 p.m. at the Mahoosuc Land Trust Office on 18 Mayville Road in Bethel to carpool, or they can drive directly to the Philbrook Farm Inn by 1 p.m. The inn is located on 881 North Road in Shelburne, N.H.
Following the hike, Bass said that all hikers will be treated to hot drinks and snacks at the Philbrook Farm Inn.
Bass added that if the weather forecast predicts a powerful snowstorm, those interested in participating “can call the Mahoosuc Land Trust Office to find out if the hike is canceled.”
The other winter hikes in 2014 will take place at 10 a.m. Feb. 15 at the Flint Farm in Albany, where Churchill will lead participants as part of the Great Maine Outdoor Weekend, and at 9 a.m. March 8 at the Rumford Whitecap Mountain Preserve on Andover Road in Rumford.
